Equality for Flatbush is CURRENTLY SEEKING BOARD MEMBERS

Everyone is talking about -- The rapid gentrification of Brooklyn. Rents are going up, people are being displaced, and small long-time mom and pop businesses are closing. Racial profiling and ticketing harassment due to Broken Windows policing grows worse every day.

JOIN OUR BOARD AND HELP US CHANGE THIS

Equality for Flatbush is CURRENTLY SEEKING BOARD MEMBERS to support and grow our work in the communities of Flatbush, East Flatbush and Brooklyn-wide. Board members lend their skills and savvy to help champion new initiatives, fund-raise for our work, and expand our networks of support. Equality for Flatbush does affordable housing, anti-gentrification and police accountability organizing in Brooklyn. We organize “No Eviction Zones” in 9 neighborhoods in Brooklyn, organizing within multiple buildings or blocks -- including in Bedford-Stuyvesant/Clinton Hill, Bushwick, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, East New York, Flatbush, Park Slope, Prospect Heights and Sunset Park. We operate tenant hotlines in English, Spanish, and Haitian-Kreyol, and receive between 5 and 30 calls for help each week. We maintain linkages to local legal service organizations and private housing attorneys, and connect people for advice and representation. We fight Broken Window policing by organizing to stop the NYPD harassment of street vendors and dollar van and cab drivers in Flatbush and East Flatbush. We have launched successful campaigns to get charges dropped against people from East Flatbush and Flatbush who have been brutalized by the NYPD. We initiated the Brooklyn Anti-Gentrification Network. We are committed to the fight for change and we want you with us!
